Keep The Senate Filibuster, But Create Waivers . . . so Mitch McConnell can’t continue to control America!

Now that Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff are sworn in as the 49th and 50th Democratic Senators, America CAN, finally, escape the brutal, Machiavellian, anti-democratic clutches of a man who, literally, calls himself “The Grim Reaper”.

And laughs about it.

The country has been waiting 12 years for this moment.

Since Barack Obama was sworn in on January 20, 2009 until now, Mitch McConnell has blocked countless pieces of legislation that a significant, or even vast, majority of The American People want, and need.

He did it as Minority Leader from 2009–2015, filibustering virtually everything that President Obama and the Democratic House proposed.

And he did it as Majority Leader from 2015 — today by refusing to even let these much desired and much needed pieces of legislation be brought up in committee or on the floor of The Senate.

Enough, Mitch. You’ve had a good run. It’s time, now, for Democracy . . . that is . . . for the will of the people to prevail.

But here’s the problem.

There are “Institutionalists” in the Democratic caucus who will not “nuke” the filibuster. Sen. Joe Manchin, alone, is enough. And there are likely more.

So, despite 81 million Americans voting for change and electing Joe Biden, a majority of Americans voting to give The House to The Democrats to legislate that change and, now, there being a majority of Democrats in The United States Senate to — finally — bring up and pass the popular bills passed by The House . . .

“The Grim Reaper”, with the help of a few of his Republican allies, can still block EVERY piece of legislation brought up for the next two years (with the exception of 2 bills under another bizarre Senate procedure called “Budget Reconciliation”.)

I don’t know about you, but I didn’t work non-stop for all of 2020, and before, to STILL have Mitch McConnell run my country.

Democrats must show some guts and stand up for the American people. And, if they are willing, there are some creative ways they can do this WITHOUT “nuking” the filibuster. Here are 2 of them:
